Course Description:
The Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL) course is a state-mandated training program designed for individuals seeking to purchase, rent, or transfer a handgun in Maryland. This comprehensive 4-hour course provides participants with the essential knowledge, skills, and legal understanding necessary to safely own and operate a handgun.
Course Objectives:
Firearm Safety: Learn the fundamental principles of handgun safety, including safe handling, storage, and transportation of firearms.
Firearm Mechanics: Gain an understanding of handgun operation, components, and basic maintenance.
Maryland Firearm Laws: Receive an overview of Maryland specific laws governing firearm ownership, purchase, and usage, including the legal responsibilities of handgun owners.
Home Firearm Safety: Explore best practices for keeping firearms securely stored in the home to prevent unauthorized access.
