WAMPLER INSTITUTE

OF PRACTICAL SHOOTING

THE MISSION  &  THE METHOD

The WIPS Program is a progressive, performance-driven training system built by David Wampler to develop practical shooting skills through structured, repeatable 90-minute training sessions. Every session is designed with purpose: to build skill, sharpen decision-making, improve performance under pressure, and prepare you to apply what you learn when it matters most.

At it’s core, WIPS is designed to evaluate your skill, technique, and decision making through four foundational WDC principles:

EFFICIENCY – CONSISTENCY OF PERFORMANCE – DAMAGE CONTROL – RISK MITIGATION

This is about more than learning techniques. It’s about understanding the WHY behind them, recognizing WHEN to apply them, and developing the ability to execute them consistently. You will learn to evaluate your performance, identify potential risks, make smarter decisions, and manage the consequences when things don’t go according to plan.

The mission is simple: build capable, consistent, and confident shooters who understand not just how to perform, but how to perform with purpose.

What to Expect

Throughout the program, you’ll work through a structured progression of training modules, each designed to build upon the skills developed before it. Starting with the fundamentals, you’ll refine your technique through focused repetitions, instructor feedback, targeted adjustments, and measurable performance goals. As your abilities develop, you’ll begin combining individual skills into more complex shooting problems involving movement, transitions, target difficulty, and time pressure. Every session has a clear objective, giving you the opportunity to identify weaknesses, track your progress, and build a stronger foundation with every repetition.

As you advance, the challenge evolves from simply executing a skill to understanding how to apply it in a competitive environment. You’ll learn to recognize patterns, evaluate stage challenges, process visual information, and make decisions that balance points, time, and risk. The program progressively introduces more complex scenarios that challenge your ability to adapt, maintain consistency, and perform under pressure. Expect to be challenged, expect to be measured, and expect to discover where your performance can improve. The objective is to turn individual skills into a cohesive, repeatable performance you can rely on when it counts
